Qinghai-Xizang Railway: 20 years on

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Qinghai-Xizang Railway's full operation. Twenty years ago, a train whistle echoed across the snow-covered plateau, ending Xizang's history without rail access.

Over the past two decades, the railway has not only served as a vital economic lifeline that connects the plateau with the rest of China, but also reshaped the lives of millions.
