Fu Chengyu, former chairman of China Petroleum and Chemical Corp, or Sinopec, is under investigation for suspected serious violations of Party discipline and national laws, China's top anti-corruption authorities said on Saturday.
The Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision announced the investigation online. No further details were released.
Public records show that Fu, 75, is a native of Heilongjiang province. He spent decades working at China National Offshore Oil Corp before becoming secretary of the Party leadership group and chairman of Sinopec in 2011.
He retired from the position in 2015.
