Autumn in Foshan, Guangdong province, comes alive with qiuse, a time-honored folk spectacle woven from vibrant parades and friendly competitions. More than just a celebration, it is the city's timeless love letter to the harvest.
Dating back to the Jin Dynasty (265-420) and flourishing in the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911), qiuse earned its place on China's national intangible cultural heritage list in 2008.
This year, the much-anticipated event returns between Oct 23 and 26 with two evenings of spectacular processions, 38 varied acts, and 17 glowing floats.
Come to Foshan this autumn and discover a "color" like no other.
