China confirms ongoing talks on Zimbabwe's debt

Regarding Zimbabwe's debt resolution, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Thursday that relevant departments and financial institutions from China and Zimbabwe "are maintaining communication".

At a daily news briefing held in Beijing, a reporter referred to media reports claiming that China has agreed to restructure some of Zimbabwe's debt.

"China and Zimbabwe enjoy a long-standing traditional friendship, and we attach great importance to Zimbabwe's requests regarding debt resolution," she said.

"The relevant departments and financial institutions of both sides are maintaining communication. For specific progress, you may inquire with the Chinese departments in charge," Mao added.
