Beijing urged Washington on Friday to abandon double standards and political manipulation, and build peaceful and stable China-US relations in cyberspace based on mutual respect.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning made the remarks after United States officials from the Justice Department said they seized seven internet domains that were "being used to help Chinese hackers scan and hack US and foreign critical infrastructure systems."
China always opposes and takes legal action against hacking activities, she said, adding the country also firmly opposes the dissemination of false information and the creation of various disruptions for political purposes.
Safeguarding cybersecurity is a shared concern of China and the US, Mao said, urging the US side to work with China to tackle cybersecurity risks through equal dialogue and negotiation.
