Djokovic claims 7th China Open men's singles title
BEIJING - Twenty-four-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia clinched his seventh men's singles title at the China Open as Australia's Alex De Minaur withdrew from the final in the second set on Tuesday.
Djokovic rallied past the first seed Alexander Zverev of Germany in the quarterfinals and saw off the third seed Daniil Medvedev from Russia in the semifinals en route to the final clash.
In the final, Djokovic won the first set 7-6 (3), and De Minaur led 1-0 in the second set before his retirement due to injury.
Veteran Djokovic, 39, last competed at the China Open in 2015, when he defeated Rafael Nadal in the final to claim his sixth title. The Serbian is known as the tournament's most successful men's singles player, having won in 2009, 2010, from 2012 to 2015, and now 2026.
