A new international science organization made its debut on Sunday during the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Conference on Science Literacy in Beijing.
The World Organization for Science Literacy, supported by the China Association for Science and Technology, aims to provide a global platform for science outreach and guide intelligent societies toward beneficial development.
Registered in Beijing in June, the organization boasts 32 founding institutional members from 21 countries across Asia, Europe, South America, Africa, and Oceania. It plans to promote exchange and collaborative innovation, foster healthier interactions between science and society, and enhance global science literacy.
The conference, themed "Science Literacy for an Intelligent Society: Opportunities, Challenges and Transformations," runs from Saturday to Monday.
