In an exclusive interview with China Daily, Essam Sharaf, former prime minister of Egypt, expressed his admiration for the rapid development of infrastructure, evolving cityscapes, and the harmonious environment of diversity and coexistence in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

On his trip, he saw people of different ethnic groups creating music and preparing local delicacies together, which he believes reflects ethnic integration.

"People are enjoying belonging, belonging to the great nation of China, and belonging to their own cultures," Sharaf said.

For Sharaf, Xinjiang's dynamic growth and interethnic harmony are its most striking features on the global stage.
