Shenzhen in Guangdong province has made its debut as a Michelin Guide destination, with the inaugural Michelin Guide Guangzhou & Shenzhen 2026 selection recognizing 59 restaurants in the city, including two two-star and five one-star establishments.

The joint selection, unveiled at Grand Hyatt Shenzhen, features 176 restaurants across Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Guangzhou has 117 restaurants, including three two-star, 17 one-star, 52 Bib Gourmand and 45 Michelin-Selected establishments. "Guangzhou gives us roots — deep, warm, enduring. Shenzhen gives us wings — open, dynamic, endlessly creative," said Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide. He said the two cities together reflect the diversity and vitality of southern China's culinary landscape.

Shenzhen's two two-star restaurants are The Bay by Chef Fei, which serves Cantonese and Chaozhou cuisine, and Yun Jing, known for contemporary Cantonese dishes and panoramic city and ocean views.

The five one-star restaurants span a range of cuisines. They include Chaozhou restaurant Chao Shang Chao, innovative establishments Ensue and Fumee, French contemporary restaurant Opus 388, and Taizhou cuisine specialist Xin Rong Ji.

The city's Bib Gourmand selection also highlights its diverse food culture. The 21 recommended restaurants cover more than 10 cooking styles, including Cantonese, Chaozhou, Sichuan, Hakka, Hunan, Shunde and Indonesian cuisine.

The selection also marks the first presentation of the Michelin Mentor Chef Award in Guangdong, which honors veteran chefs for helping develop the next generation of culinary talent. Huang Jinghui, chef of Guangzhou's two-star Jiang by Chef Fei, received the award for his long-standing efforts in training and mentoring young culinary professionals.

Among Shenzhen's newly recognized restaurants, The Bay by Chef Fei and Opus 388, both located at Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen, further strengthen the hotel's culinary profile. The hotel's MO Bar ranked No 5 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026, making it the highest-ranked hotel bar in Asia.
