Humanoid robots introduced to Guangzhou parcel-sorting lines for 24/7 operations

By Luo Wangshu | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2026-08-05 14:44

Meet the newest workers on Guangzhou's parcel-sorting lines: humanoid robots.

At the Jianggao Mail Processing Center, eight robots are being tested to pick up small parcels and place them onto sorting conveyors, with five more on the way.

Currently, they feed 800 parcels onto the lines every hour. The goal is to double that rate to 1,600 by the second quarter of 2027 — nearly matching the speed of human workers, but designed to keep operations running around the clock.
