The Chinese government and the Red Cross Society of China will provide emergency humanitarian aid to Venezuela after two consecutive powerful quakes hit the country, the Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
China stands ready to provide further support in light of the situation of the disaster, the ministry's spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a daily news conference.
Two Chinese nationals had been confirmed dead in Venezuela's earthquakes as of today.
The embassy in Venezuela is making every effort to learn about the safety situation of Chinese nationals and will actively provide necessary assistance, Guo said.
"We remind the Chinese nationals in Venezuela to stay on alert against the possible secondary hazards of the earthquakes," he said.
