GUIYANG -- More than 9,100 residents have been evacuated in Southwest China's Guizhou province, as torrential rains have lashed multiple parts of the province since Monday, authorities said Tuesday.

Among the affected areas, the city of Duyun in the Bouyei-Miao autonomous prefecture of Qiannan ordered school suspension on Tuesday as the city raised its emergency response for flood control from Level III to Level II early Tuesday.

There have been no reported casualties so far.

The rains also disrupted power supplies in parts of the prefecture, and more than 1,000 power grid repair personnel have been mobilized to restore the supply.

According to the provincial meteorological observatory, heavy rains battered more than 20 county-level areas of the province from 6 am Monday to 6 am Tuesday, with four of them recording rainfalls exceeding 200 mm during the period.
