Pingshan Canyon, Enshi, Hubei

CHINA BOUND | Updated: 2026-06-10 07:00

In June, boats in Pingshan Canyon in Enshi, Hubei province, seem like floating in the air. Don't rush to take wide shots — ride a small boat deeper into the canyon and wait for sunlight to pour through the cracks between the cliffs. Watch as the towering cliffs carve the emerald water into a piece of translucent jadeite. As the boat drifts forward, the water is so clear you can even see the shadow of the hull beneath it. Passing through A Sliver of Sky — the narrowest section of the canyon — the surface suddenly shatters into countless points of light. In June, the water level is just right — waiting for you to come and see it for yourself.
