The term fei cui was originally coined in ancient China to describe the dazzling blue-green feathers of rare birds. Over the centuries, it evolved into a poetic synonym for jadeite, a gemstone prized for its luminous beauty. Even today, the mere mention of fei cui stirs the imagination of those captivated by its graceful hues.

A selection of exquisite accessories celebrating the timeless allure of jadeite recently went on display in Beijing, previewing dozens of masterfully crafted works set to be auctioned by Christie's in Hong Kong later this month.

On display at this Beijing preview were necklaces, bracelets, earrings and other decorative objects, as well as selected watches assembled by discerning collectors.

The items will go under the hammer during a special auction week from May 22-28.
