Huizhou is a historic region in eastern China known for its distinctive architecture and the rise of influential Huizhou merchants (Huishang) during the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368–1911).

Nestled in the heart of Huizhou at the southern foot of Mount Huangshan, Xidi village is one of the finest living examples of this legacy. Once shaped and sustained by Huishang families, the village preserves their architectural ideals — stone-paved alleys, whitewashed walls, and black-tiled horse-head gables. In the spring rain, this World Heritage site rests quietly among misty green hills, displaying the enduring beauty and cultural depth of Huizhou.
