In an exclusive interview with China Perspective, Zhao Zhongxiu, president of the University of International Business and Economics, said that the United States and China still share significant common interests in trade structure, industrial cooperation, and jointly addressing global challenges, with a broad consensus that is shared by the two sides' business communities and at local levels.

"It is hoped that the trade talks would further expand this consensus, steering China-US economic and trade relations onto a more stable and healthier track, while effectively managing risks," Zhao said.

He emphasized that US enterprises need stable supply chains and business relationships with Chinese counterparts. "In certain fields, such as agricultural trade, after going through the interactions in the past years, people have recognized the significance of China's vast market for the US," he said.

"Furthermore, in areas like transportation and financial services, China and the US actually remain markets with mutual demand for each other."
