Former Egyptian PM: Global Civilization Initiative boosts cross-cultural exchanges
This year marks the 70th anniversary of China-Egypt diplomatic ties. In a recent interview with China Daily, former Egyptian prime minister Essam Sharaf described the Global Civilization Initiative as a cornerstone for building trust through dialogue and exchanges.
"These two civilizations, Chinese and Egyptian, form a good part of the human history," Sharaf said.
As the founder of the Sharaf Foundation for Sustainable Development and the winner of the inaugural Orchid Award, Sharaf believes people-to-people connectivity lies at the heart of civilizational exchange.
Looking ahead, he hopes to build a cultural hub for the Arab world, so China and Egypt may shine as beacons of global civilization.
"I feel like the two countries deserve to be enlightening points in the world," he said.
